Coca-Cola are making the leap from offering more choice to actively encouraging people to drink a no sugar option.

In June we launched our new sugar-free drink: Coca-Cola No Sugar.

It’s the product of years of research and marks the latest step in the evolution of our sugar-free Coke recipes that began with Diet Coke in 1982. We continued the journey toward finding a recipe which tastes closer to Coke when we launched Coke Zero in 2006.

“Coca-Cola No Sugar tastes great so we think over time we will gradually phase out Coke Zero, but we’re going to let our customers decide when that will be,” said President of Coca-Cola South Pacific, Roberto Mercadé.

“Some people ask ‘Why would you replace Coke Zero?’  Well the answer is simple, Coca-Cola No Sugar tastes great!”

“The new recipe is the product of years of research, consumer testing and trials. Not only did we want it to taste more like Coke, we wanted the experience of drinking Coca-Cola  No Sugar to be as close as possible to the refreshment of ‘The Real Thing’,” he said.

Faced with this challenge, our team of taste experts spent five years working to optimize the flavours, trying dozens of recipes and undertaking numerous separate consumer trials before finally cracking it.

“With the new Coca-Cola No Sugar, they hit upon what we think is the best tasting no sugar Coke ever made.

“Whether you love Coca-Cola Classic or Coke Zero, everyone should give it a try,” said Mr Mercadé.
