Growing from a graduate position has provided Eric Velasco with a career that’s always challenging and never dull.

The former Mexico City resident joined Coca-Cola straight out of university. When he decided to move to Australia to study an MBA full time, he always intended to return to his country of birth.

“But I liked it here and wanted to stay,” the Commercialisation Project Manager explained from his Sydney office.

“So I contacted my former boss and asked him if there was anyone I could meet here.”

An introduction was made, and after waiting for an appropriate job opening Eric was welcomed back into the Company, and brings a valuable international perspective.

“One of the things I like the most about working with Coca-Cola is the opportunity to travel, and to meet people from different countries. It’s great to see how they work, and help solve problems together,” he said.

A typical day for Eric involves meeting with colleagues in marketing, research and development, quality assurance and the bottlers to bring new products to market.

“I do this through collaboration with many different areas of the business,” Eric said. “With so many different categories we have, we need to be very smart with what we work on – so I help with the management of the innovation pipeline for new product development.”

For Eric, seeing a new product in store is one of the things he loves about his job.

“It’s definitely a great sense of satisfaction,” he said.
